Package: hplip-gui Version: 3.14.6-1 Severity: wishlist Dear Maintainer, hplip-gui currently recommends python-notify, which in turn depends on python-gtk. Both python-gtk and python-notify are obsolete and we are going to remove them at some point. Also, none of these packages supports Python 3, so if you will ever switch to Python 3, you need to get rid of python-notify usage first. The recommended alternative is python-notify2, which is a lightweight pure-Python interface to notification protocol. It was designed to be as compatible with python-notify as possible, so porting is very easy. See http://sources.debian.net/src/python-notify2/0.3-2/notify2.py/#L18 for details. Another alternative will be using libnotify via gobject-introspection. Both these alternatives are modern, supported, and Python 3 compatible. -- Dmitry ShachnevAttachment: signature.asc
