Hi Brian,

thank you for your answer!

Using lp doesn't make any difference, but I now understood the problem
better. Because actually printing never worked: When I "successfully"
tested for the first time I only used one line of text. Now I see the
problem is that you can print one line and even some more, but after
approximately one third of the page the printer stops and the error is
displayed. This is independent of lp or LibreOffice.

Of course I switched the printer on and off - that didn't change
anything. I don't know what you mean by switching off
db-printer.fritz.box. This is just the network adress of the printer.

The setup is:
Printer -(WiFi)- Router -(WiFi)- Laptop

What do you mean by that? Ping the router? Ping cups (which is on my
laptop)?
I once saw that http://localhost:631/ was unreachable for some time
after the error, but I can't reproduce that now. Maybe it's an issue
with cups?!

Also I saw that when switching on the printer there is a message
"backend failed" in the status of the preferences dialogue. When I
activate the printer this message vanishes. But I can't remember this
behaviour from earlier tries.

Thank you very much for your help!
Björn
