Hi, I installed Debian-7.8-i386 with GNOME on my system a couple of days back. My Canon PIXMA MG2470 printer, which works seamlessly under Windows XP SP3, does not get added. Running the Add Printer utility gets me a window that hints that my printer was found, but then the window vanishes after a few seconds. This is what I get in /var/log/messages : Feb 4 00:24:02 bourne mtp-probe: bus: 1, device: 6 was not an MTP device Feb 4 00:24:02 bourne kernel: [ 1141.387655] usblp1: USB Bidirectional printer dev 6 if 1 alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x04A9 pid 0x176C Feb 4 00:24:02 bourne kernel: [ 1141.387714] usbcore: registered new interface driver usblp Feb 4 00:24:25 bourne kernel: [ 1163.984741] usblp1: removed Feb 4 00:24:25 bourne kernel: [ 1163.991639] usblp1: USB Bidirectional printer dev 6 if 1 alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x04A9 pid 0x176C Feb 4 00:25:15 bourne kernel: [ 1213.908828] usblp1: removed Feb 4 00:25:15 bourne kernel: [ 1213.916447] usblp1: USB Bidirectional printer dev 6 if 1 alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x04A9 pid 0x176C Feb 4 00:25:50 bourne kernel: [ 1248.560790] usblp1: removed Feb 4 00:25:50 bourne kernel: [ 1248.568999] usblp1: USB Bidirectional printer dev 6 if 1 alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x04A9 pid 0x176C Feb 4 00:27:45 bourne kernel: [ 1363.795813] usb 1-2: USB disconnect, device number 6 Feb 4 00:27:45 bourne kernel: [ 1363.796408] usblp1: removed Can anyone please tell me how to configure the printer ?
