Package: cups-browsed
Version: 1.0.61-2
Severity: normal

Hi,
I have lost all remote printers when updating from 1.5 based cups to
post 1.6 version. cups-browsed was supposed to return the removed
functionality from the main cups package (I am really grateful for that!)
but installing the package didn't work out for me. It took me some time
before I looked into /etc/cups/cups-browsed.conf unfortunately. The conf
comment would tell me what is going on:

# The following CUPS broadcasting/browsing-related lines were overtaken from
# /etc/cups/cupsd.conf. Not all are supported by cups-browsed and so could get
# ignored. Please check the comments and examples above and edit the lines if
# needed. Note that for getting available the remote printers from all hosts/
# networks you have to remove all "BrowseAllow" lines.

Of course I had
BrowseAllow all

present and that caused all remote printers being disallowed by default.
I didn't find this information in the log and only found out when
started cups-browsed with --debug parameter. I have understood that the
parameter got there during post-install phase from cupsd.conf. While the
help message in the conf file is very helpful is there any reason to
import config options which are known to not work with cups-browsed
by default? Maybe postinstall script can ask whether such an option
should be added if those options cannot be ignored by default.

Thanks!
