Hello NetCat,

Thank you for the error_log and the further information.

I am very uneasy with the severity level you gave this bug. The package
is not rendered unusable. From above, dnssd works. Also, if we look at
the error_log, cups does everything correctly. It is only when we get to

  D [21/Jun/2013:19:33:07 +0200] [Job 17] Connected to 192.168.1.100:631...
  D [21/Jun/2013:19:33:07 +0200] Discarding unused job-progress event...
  D [21/Jun/2013:19:33:07 +0200] Discarding unused printer-state-changed event...
  D [21/Jun/2013:19:33:07 +0200] [Job 17] Getting supported attributes...
  D [21/Jun/2013:19:33:07 +0200] [Job 17] Get-Printer-Attributes: server-error-internal-error (Success)
  D [21/Jun/2013:19:33:07 +0200] [Job 17] Get-Printer-Attributes returned server-error-internal-error.
E [21/Jun/2013:19:33:07 +0200] [Job 17] Unable to get printer status.
D [21/Jun/2013:19:33:07 +0200] [Job 17] Set job-printer-state-message to "Unable to get printer status.", current level=ERROR

that what appears to be an IPP error occurs. This might very well be
caused by the device you are communicating with. Also, there are ways
other than IPP to communicate with the NAS. A severity level of
'important' is more suitable.

Please try this:

   mv /usr/lib/cups/backend/ipp /usr/lib/cups/backend/ipp-orig

   cp /usr/lib/cups/backend/ipp14 /usr/lib/cups/backend/ipp

This replaces the Wheezy backend with the one used in cups 1.4.

Finally: when you reply to the bug would you please not send your mails
as html only. These mails are sent to the BTS and debian-printing and it
is a lot easier for some of us to read and reply to them if they are text
(with or without an html part).

Regards,

Brian.
