Indeed, I can reproduce that. You can get the intended behaviour with:

	lp -o outputorder=reverse -P 2,4,6 some.pdf

So it _is_ possible. As it's upstream behaviour, I don't intend to fix that 
bug with a patch over cups, therefore hereby closing this bug.
