Bug#605589: Subject: hplip: download of plug-in fails -> can not install printer

Mark,

There is a a directory "/var/lib/hp" where the plugin installation process writes data about installed plugin. The install plugin success with out complain about the lack of the directory and it does not write the plugin installation information. Other process search for this data to know if the appropriate plugin was installed.

I've read* that directory was generated by the make Makefile but it's unused (no files in it) until an installation plugin is executed, and there is a problem in the packaging process that don't package that directory.

mkdir /var/lib/hp, solves the problem, with my HP LaserJet 1020 in a debian wheezy.

I think that it can be run in the post install; if it's hard to search why that empty directory was not packaged.

* I've found it in a google search and they talk about an OpenSuse distribution.
