I would have thought that only the part of the line inside the
bounding box should have been considered (thus like having a
line of width 0.5 pt), but after looking at the DSC spec, the
bounding box must contain all the elements (i.e. it is not like
a clipping box). So, I agree that the behavior is unspecified.

I've recompiled the example and I no longer get any problem (while
the problem still occurs on the PDF file that was generated in the
past). So, it seems that the bug in LaTeX has been fixed. I'm not
sure, though, because the old machine was a 32-bit x86 (with a
traditional FPU and its extended precision), while I've tried with
an x86_64.
