Package: hplip Version: 3.11.1-3 Severity: normal File: /usr/lib/cups/backend/hp I have an Officejet 4500 that is networked via an Ethernet cable. Until recently, it worked just fine. Now I get complaints that it is probably not connected (which is false) and nothing prints. The printer works fine from a Windows machine on the network using the software from the CD included with the printer, so I'm certain that it is, in fact, connected and functioning. I did get it working once by downgrading hplip and ghostscript and rebooting, but it took all three. I'm going to see if simply rebooting solves the problem or not. CUPS claims: printer Officejet-4500 disabled since Thu 21 Apr 2011 10:17:10 PM UTC - /usr/lib/cups/backend/hp failed I've attached the most recent /var/log/cups/error_log, compressed with gzip. If you have any questions or need any testing, please let me know. If the bug is in some other package, feel free to reassign (possibly with an affects notation). -- Package-specific info: HP Linux Imaging and Printing System (ver. 3.11.1) Dependency/Version Check Utility ver. 14.3 Copyright (c) 2001-9 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, LP This software comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run. 3.
