Hello

Maybe this is already fixed in a newer version, but I decided to report
it anyway as it coasted me some time to figure out what went wrong, and
I didnt see a report about this problem.

I installed a HP LaserJet 4050N with the hp-setup tool, provided by
hplip. The printer is connected via Jet-Direct.
When trying to print a testpage from cups, cups tells me:

"open device failed; will retry in 30 seconds..."

Looking at syslog, I saw the following:

hpiod: invalid model HP_LaserJet_4050_Series != HP_LaserJet_4050_Series_
JetdirectDevice::Open

Back to cups, I modified the printer, and changed the printer URL from

hp:/net/HP_LaserJet_4050_Series?ip=192.168.1.100

to

hp:/net/HP_LaserJet_4050_Series_?ip=192.168.1.100

Now the printer is working fine.

I hope this can help someone to save some time :)

Elias,

Thanks for your report, I am closing as it is against a very old version of
hplip.

Could I ask you to upgrade to the current version (3.10.2) and if the issue is
still present then update using the reportbug(1) tool which will provide more
detail on your configuration.

Mark
