Package: hplip Version: 3.9.2-3 Severity: normal Since I converted from the HP binary drivers to the debian packages for hplip, scanning does not work any more. (This is since 2.8.10, I already mentioned this in Bug#501275, which clearly was the wrong place, and then was offline for some weeks so I could not investigate further.) Both xsane and scanimage report the same error: schabi@korb:~$ scanimage --verbose scanimage: open of device hpaio:/usb/HP_Color_LaserJet_CM1015?serial=00CNF87BHGYB failed: Error during device I/O dmesg tells: [ 7153.217459] ppdev0: registered pardevice [ 7153.217837] ppdev0: unregistered pardevice [ 7154.816694] ppdev0: registered pardevice [ 7154.863837] ppdev0: unregistered pardevice I tried installing the binary plugin from the hp Device Manager which opens when clicking the tray icon. It ran without displaying an error, but scanning still does not work. hp-check displays the "required plugin" as not installed. Any ideas? -- Package-specific info: HP Linux Imaging and Printing System (ver. 3.9.2) Dependency/Version Check Utility ver. 14.1 Copyright (c) 2001-8 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, LP This software comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY. Markus, Glad to hear that things are working better for you now. With the release of version 3.10 we have better split up the packages to bring in the type of dependancies you are referring too. Could I ask you to flash up your second machine, install the current version from testing/ unstable and confirm things are working correctly. If you can submit the followup using the reportbug(1) tool your configuration will also be included. The other factor to check is the group membership and permissions. Once now needs to be a member of the "lp" group to print/ scan & fax. MarkAttachment: signature.asc
