There is a related upstream report, which you can access in launchpad, so I would lobby there for an global fix, however upstream are keen to support older udev. I suppose the patch would be straight forward for Debian to include, however you could also submit a patch to this bug report and allow the Debian version to get fixed earlier. Mark
