Package: hplip Version: 3.9.8-1 Justification: breaks the whole system Severity: critical Today I installed hplip hplip-data hplip-gui hp-ppd and my HP Deskjet F4280 was automaticaly reconized and configured. Problem: As soon as I connect USB cable to te USB port whole system freezes, not just X but whole system and the only way to "resolve" this problem is by hard restarting it. Workaround would be to connect the USB cable while notebook is off and then power it on, system won't freeze and printing will work just fine. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (990, 'unstable'), (200, 'testing'), (100, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.30-2-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages hplip depends on: di adduser 3.111 add and remove users and groups ii coreutils 7.5-6 GNU core utilities di cups 1.4.1-5 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - di cups-client 1.4.1-5 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - di hplip-data 3.9.8-1 HP Linux Printing and Imaging - da di libc6 2.10.1-1 GNU C Library: Shared libraries di libcups2 1.4.1-5 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - di libdbus-1-3 1.2.16-2 simple interprocess messaging syst di libsane 1.0.20-8 API library for scanners di libsnmp15 5.4.1~dfsg-12 SNMP (Simple Network Management Pr di libssl0.9.8 0.9.8k-5 SSL shared libraries di libusb-0.1-4 2:0.1.12-13 userspace USB programming library di lsb-base 3.2-23 Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip di policykit-1 0.94-4 framework for managing administrat di python 2.5.4-2 An interactive high-level object-o di python-dbus 0.83.0-1 simple interprocess messaging syst di python-imaging 1.1.6-3.1 Python Imaging Library Versions of packages hplip recommends: di hplip-cups 3.9.8-1 HP Linux Printing and Imaging - CU di sane-utils 1.0.20-8 API library for scanners -- utilit Versions of packages hplip suggests: pn hplip-doc <none> (no description available) ii hplip-gui 3.9.8-1 HP Linux Printing and Imaging - GU pn kdeprint | gtklp | xpp <none> (no description available) ii openprinting-ppds 20090616-1 OpenPrinting printer support - Pos -- no debconf informationAttachment: signature.asc

(This uses the hp-check tool) I did send it using reportbug, either way, after I removed hplip and got the latest updates and then reinstalled hplip it all seems to be working fine again :) Sorry for the trouble, glad to see it's all working again.
