If I can tell you more details, please ask. Make sure your printer is switched on before you try to add it. You need to use the "usb" backend. As root, run /usr/lib/cups/backend/usb and it should list your printer. If the list is empty, CUPS can't see your printer--check that /usr/lib/cups/backend/usb exists and is executable, and check with "lsusb" that the device is connected to the system and detected by Linux.
