Same here, Cups crashes each time when asked to be reloaded: 
invoke-rc.d --quiet cupsys force-reload

My printers.conf is rather long! But with an empty one Cups doesn't
crash. I'm going the search for a duplicated entry.

I also have a server where I can crash cups when I want.
