Package: cupsys
Version: 1.2.7-4
Severity: normal

Printing from my wife's mac osx no longer works. It appears that the
pdftops filter is broken, referring to a file that no longer exists:

E [02/Aug/2007:13:37:27 -0500] [Job 165] pdftops-options: -cfg /etc/cups/pdftops

Editing /usr/lib/cups/filters/pdftops to remove the reference to /etc/cups/pdftops doesn't help:

This worked before the upgrade to etch on the print server.

(This appears to be the same bug as Ubunto 125300. That user reports
that removing the '-cfg /etc/cups/pdftops.cfg' option fixes the problem.
Hmmm.)

Steve

The 'nonexisting config file' problem was solved recently in:

cupsys (1.2.12-4) unstable; urgency=low

  [ Martin Pitt ]
  * cupsys.logrotate: Fix last occurence of 'cupsys' user.
    (closes: #437536)
  * Moved all Debian specific filters to debian/local/filters.
  * Cleaned up debian/rules, moved some file installs to
    debian/cupsys.install.
  * Merge debian/cupsys.files into debian/cupsys.install and remove the
    former. Two different files are just too confusing.
  * debian/local/filters/pdftops: Do not pass /etc/cups/pdftops.conf to
    pdftops if it does not exist (poppler-utils does not have this file).
    (https://launchpad.net/bugs/125300)

  [ Martin-Éric Racine ]
  * Corrected download URL in debian/copyright.
  * Added debian/watch file using that URL.
  * Revised the Uploaders in debian/control:
    - Fixed the name for Masayuki Hatta.
    - Added Roger Leigh.
  * Removed cupsys-driver-gimpprint alternative in debian/control;
    superseded by cupsys-driver-gutenprint since Etch.

The "It still does not work after removing -cfg" part sounds more like
a poppler bug, and it generally works now. Can you please file a
separate bug for this and attach/point to an example PDF that fails
for you?

Thanks,

Martin
