Bug#437848: new ghostscript upstream 8.60 replaces all previous implementations
package: gs-gpl
severity: wishlist
Hello!
A new version of ghostscript has been released:
http://www.ghostscript.com/awki/GPL_Ghostscript_8.60
Since this version is finally a merge of gs-esp and gs-gpl, I suggest
the new package should Replace and Provide all of gs, gs-gpl, gs-esp,
gs-afpl, gs-alladin, etc. and simply be called 'ghostscript' itself.
The contents of gs-common could also be merged into the new package,
since this will be the only gs-* available in Debian in the future.
I am suggesting this, because if have found openprinting.org upstream to
use a very pleasant naming sheme for their example packages, which I
think should be followed in Debian:
http://www.openprinting.org/download/printing/esp-gpl-ghostscript-merge/README
Please consider upgrading this package and removing the forked versions.
Thank you for your effort!
Cheers,
Fabian
