Package: cupsys Version: 1.2.7-4 Kernelversion: 2.6.18.dfsg.1-12etch2 I changed the BIOS- Setting for the parallel port to mode:normal, IO Addr.: 378, IRQ: 7 and added the line: "options parport_pc io=0x378 irq=7" to /etc/modprobe.d/arch/i386. This made gnome-cups-manager detect my printer (HP Laserjet 5 with ´hpijs -HPLIP 1.6.10´-driver) and the printer now at least shows some reaction when trying to print the test page: It says ´Working on job´, and then changes to ´Ready´, then the print job is stopped, nothing is printed. The attached file shows adding the detected printer with ´gnome-cups-manager´ and then trying to print the testpage.
