I've read the above several times and I guess Kenshi isn't a native English 
speaker. Could someone from the CUPS team explain that Kenshi is stated 
above?

Looking at Fiesty's 1.2.8 the backend files are 755, does something change in 
1.2.11 (that's in gutsy and I don't have that installed).
