Bug#390522: cupsys: "Unsupported format 'application/postscript'!" after fresh install

Package: cupsys
Version: 1.2.4-1
Severity: important

Hi,

after having a problem with adding a USB HP Deskjet 816C I looked around
on the net and found some posts/bugs that indicated a purge of cups
might help.

I purged cupsys, cupsys-client, cupsys-driver-gutenprint, all foomatic
packages and reinstalled them all.

First Note: I wasn't asked the debconf questions, so it seems the
debconf information was not deleted.

More important though, after again adding the HP Deskjet 816C using the
gutenprint driver I cannot print on it. Printing the test page I get

Unsupported format 'application/postscript'!

Error log, ppd and printers.conf are attached. I use gs-esp.
