I'm having the same problem.  I'm in the proper groups, /de/lp0 has the right permissions, but permission is denied to the CUPS backend until I chmod /dev/lp0 to 666.

This seems like an important problem.  This shouldn't happen, and this workaround shouldn't be needed.

Here's my debug info:
