Package: gs-esp Version: 7.07.1-6 Severity: normal Tags: sid The ps2pdf command breaks the ligatures in some input postscript files, particularly with small fonts. I was unable to identify any combinations of options that would prevent it from doing so. The attached testfi.ps file displays and prints properly as postscript. The generated testfi.pdf file created by ps2pdf testfi.ps testfi.pdf displays the word 'first' as 'fi rst' (ie inserts a space after the 'fi' ligature) and inflicts similar damage on words like 'overflow' and 'confidence'. The resulting output is not publication quality. I got many annoyed comments from reviewers of a conference paper I submitted, because I did not notice that the pdf didn't match the ps file I'd been proof-reading. --scott -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.4 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C Versions of packages gs-esp depends on: ii gs-common 0.3.6 Common files for different Ghostsc ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-12 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libcupsimage2 1.1.20final+cvs20040330-3 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - ii libcupsys2 1.1.20final+cvs20040330-3 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - ii libgimpprint1 4.2.6-4 The Gimp-Print printer driver libr ii libglib2.0-0 2.2.3-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libjpeg62 6b-9 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii libpaper1 1.1.14 Library for handling paper charact ii libpng12-0 1.2.5.0-6 PNG library - runtime ii libstdc++5 1:3.3.3-7 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libtiff3g 3.6.1-1 Tag Image File Format library ii libx11-6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-1 X Window System protocol client li ii libxext6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-1 X Window System miscellaneous exte ii libxt6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-1 X Toolkit Intrinsics ii xlibs 4.3.0.dfsg.1-1 X Window System client libraries m ii zlib1g 1:1.2.1-5 compression library - runtime -- no debconf informationAttachment: testfi.ps
