About 25% of lp invocations yield the error mentioned above.
If the system is under heavy cpu load, about 90% fail.
Downgrading to cupsys-client from stable seems to solve the
problem (means, I can spool 50 jobs w/o error, also with cpu load).

The cups server is a remote one on a Debian-SPARC stable system.

This bug, STR1717 in upstream, has already been solved since 1.2.1-4.
