Package: cupsys
Version: 1.1.19final-1.4
Severity: important

I had a printer set up and working well. I tried to change drivers. I
walk through the "modify printer" steps, and when prompted for a
device, I select "USB Printer #1 (HP LaserJet 1300)". When I finish
the process, regardless of what driver I choose, cupsys says:

Device URI: usb://HP/LaserJet%201300

Of course, this doesn't actually work. "Unable to open USB device
"usb://HP/LaserJet%201300": No such device"

When I manually edit /etc/cups/printers.conf and change the URI to
usb:/dev/usb/lp0, it actually works.

Since CUPS 1.2.1, CUPS uses this name scheme instead of using a device
name.
