Bug#345973: Reporting this upstream while making sure it works for kdeprint 3.5.3?
Hello,
while I understand that technically spoken kdeprint does not play nice
with the CUPS configuration files, I think that a change in CUPS
configuration file layout should not break kdeprint. Apart from all of
its quirks KDE-Print IMHO is still the most comprehensible printing
frontend available as OSS. And I believe that its used widely and many
users will complain when they cannot use it anymore.
I suggest the following approach: Make sure that kdeprint in its current
(3.5.3-1) version can work with CUPS 1.2 while reporting bugs in
kdeprints CUPS configuration file handling upstream, so that it might be
fixed with kdeprint 3.5.4 oder 3.5.5.
I am willing to help with that but I need to know the details of what
should be reported.
That said, I was able to configure a printer with kdeprint 3.5.3-1 and
CUPS 1.2.1. But I did not try to dig into listening settings.
Regards,
