This might not the the appropriate list; this list is about printing
on Debian GNU/Linux systems.

Does the spool directory exist, and have the correct permissions?  You
might need to write a script to create these?  Unless this exists,
there's nowhere to store the print job.

Have you tried CUPS.  It's IPP broadcast system makes network printing
rather simpler to set up, tough LPRng does have other advantages in
other respects.
