Package: lprng
Version: 3.8.26-1 (unstable)

The 'translate_incoming_format' functionality in lprng 3.8.26 is
broken; it is not clear if the translation request is simply being
ignored or if it is causing some other error condition. No error is
logged, however the printing attempt of any non 'f' filter file simply
ends after the file is accepted and stored in the spool.

Implications: No direct lpr spool printing from Windows or MacOS will
work; Windows requires translation from 'v' format and MacOS requires
translation from 'l' format. Requests from other Linux/UNIX boxes are
nearly always 'f' format already and thus unaffected.

Workarounds: lprng 3.8.10-1.2 (stable) does not exhibit this bug; a
direct downgrade to 3.8.10 leaving all configuration files in-tact
eliminates the problem.

Reproduction: Any lpr request that forces filter type to non-f will
trip the bug and cause the print request to be dropped by the lprng
server. eg:

lpr -Plp@printer.xiph.org -Fl foofile

will fail under lprng 3.8.26 and succeed under 3.8.10.
