Thanks. It's slightly different from my version (try installing a new
version of hplip-ppds from unstable), but still works without
problems.

Please could you post a transcript in any case, so we can see what
fails.
At this point, I still suspect a problem in etch/testing, since it's
not reproducible with sid/unstable. If you wait a few days, it should
migrate to testing, and we can try again.
