I'd prefer trying to fix it somehow, installing is never a quick thing, especially on these old systems. If you like me to test me a fresh install ISO that is another thing.

I can add a specific snapshot in time just as a source, right? but I need get a certain date containing certain packages I guess, what should I look for to find the correct snapshot?
For example, libssl3 is called these days [3]. The fact that your is not, is an indicator you haven't updated this machine for a long time.
Could be that I didn't upgrade... 6 months for sure, perhaps more or maybe I performed selective upgrades skipping certain critical things. I remember reading issues and thus was scary about updating this iBook which has a PPC750
