I was surprised to see Oops: Exception in kernel

This is inside a qemu ppc64 instance wherein attempting to use POWER9
or the POWER8 cpu types. Seems to result in a kernel panic repeatedly :

I have not seen this when using a single CPU mode.

The qemu startup looks like :

ppc64@styx:~$ /usr/bin/qemu-system-ppc64 -machine pseries-3.1

Debian GNU/Linux bullseye/sid enceladus hvc0

enceladus login:

I am going to try building a newer QEMU revision ( or maybe use the
version from sid ) and try again. The installed image used for this
was debian-10.0-ppc64-NETINST-1.iso from 2019-11-24.

Also when running with a POWER9 cpu mode I could never use apt-get
due to :

[ 69.338816] apt-get[407]: illegal instruction (4) at 7fff8a3a2b48 nip 7fff8a3a2b48 lr 7fff8a3a2b28 code 1 in libc-2.30.so[7fff8a320000+1f0000] [ 69.339655] apt-get[407]: code: 40820008 ea8efffa 7e439378 4bffedbd 2c030030 418204c4 2c030035 38e00001 [ 69.339747] apt-get[407]: code: 418204b8 810d8f9c 75090080 418215fc <fc18048e> d81f0078 60420000 e91f0078

All very interesting and again I will build a newer QEMU and try all
this again.
