Jessie 8.2 installer boot on POWER4+ failed
Hi all,
Short report:
IBM 7028-6E4 / P4+ 1.4 GHz dual cpu module / 12gb ram / failed to boot.
I was in upgrade process from AIX 5.2 to 7.1, and it seems that i need
firmware upgrade first.
Tried to install Jessie (woohooo!) to do that firmware thing, but fun
lasted just one minute.

After Googling errors, i found old reports about gcc 4.1.x and power4 +
compilator problems and smp code, and next logical thing that came to my
mind was to boot with "nosmp" kernel parameter...
It made difference, stuck just after "buid: 0" line, perhaps "nosmp"
worked, and the only CPU stuck, and there was nobody to report about
stalled CPUs ???
Well, i will try some older kernels later on. My main task is still AIX
7.1 + firmware, otherwise i'll risk running out of coffee/beer/etc.
