[Debian buildds] failed powerpc build of ncurses 5.8+20110307-1
Hi,
ncurses 5.8+20110307-1 did FTBFS on powerpc because ld segfaulted when
trying to link the 64 bit libraries. This is the relevant part of the
log:
,----
| gcc -m64 -g -O2 [...] ../lib/libncurses.so.5.8 [...]
| collect2: ld terminated with signal 11 [Segmentation fault]
| /usr/bin/ld: linker stubs in 2 groups
| /usr/bin/ld: branch 0
| /usr/bin/ld: toc adjust 0
| /usr/bin/ld: long branch 0
| /usr/bin/ld: long toc adj 0
| /usr/bin/ld: plt call 270
| make[2]: *** [../lib/libncurses.so.5.8] Error 1
`----
The binutils version used for the build was 2.21.0.20110216-2, while
ncurses 5.8-1 was successfully built with binutils 2.20.1-16.
Anybody who can reproduce the ld segfault with current binutils
(2.21.0.20110302-2) or binutils 2.21.0.20110216-2?
Regards,
Sven
