Kernel compilation working?

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Dear people,

I used to be able to always compile my own kernels, for various reasons.

While I was trying to see if the radeon KMS changes with drivers from
sid/experimental were working, I noticed that my the 2.6.39-* kernels that I
compiled did not boot correctly: they booted up to a certain point (with visible
messages appearing OK), until they hang at a certain point and apparently,
didn't invoke init (I can get more precise information than this).

OTOH, the same kernel configuration works perfectly with 2.6.38 (well, with the
questions for new devices all set to no, as I don't have them).

So, before I endure a long session of git bisecting, is there anybody here that
already know of some issue that may be known?

Just for the record, I have been trying to get something working since 39-rc1,
and having these problems.

Thanks for any help,
