Expanding on what Templeton said, only the Intel-based Xserves can be
started remotely from a powered-off state ("lights on management"). No
other Mac has remote-power capability except via the cumbersome and
unreliable method of having a remotely-controllable power strip and
setting the computers to restart automatically on power restoration.
As Templeton said, if you don't want to leave your Macs sleeping,
you'll have to power them up manually.
