Sorry, I hit send too soon.

This is with the blacklist for snd-aoa and snd-powermac installed in /etc/modules.

I'll report in a few minutes on what happens with the blacklist reversed.

Unplugging the external speaker, the Grateful Dead came thru the
PowerMac's internal speaker, and alsamixer showed:

Headphone: MM
Speaker: OO
Auto Mute: OO
DRC: OO
DRC Range: 63
