I dislike initrd images. I tried to compile radeon and drm directly
in the kernel with the result of black screen booting....

Do I have to load radeon via initrd? Is it worth for 2 seconds of
shoing the amazing Debian Logo while bootibg? Well, but maybe I miss
some important boot messages in the case of a crash then?

Numeric stability is probably not all that
  important when you're guessing;-)
