Install 4.0 r0 "Etch" on IBM p5 510 inside LPAR

Hello to all,

I tried to install both from netinst iso (debian-40r0-powerpc-netinst.iso
07-Apr-2007 13:36 233M) and from disk 1 iso (debian-40r0-powerpc-CD-1.iso
07-Apr-2007 17:42 629M). Both times the installer in stage 1 missed some
files and /var/log/syslog shows the following entries:

Apr 18 12:56:34 cdrom-detect: CD-ROM mount succeeded:

On checking the integrity of the cd in the first run I get
"./dists/etch/main/binary-powerpc/Packages file failed the MD5 checksum
verification. ...". In the second run Packages.gz fails. I did a lot more runs
and usually the run stops at Packages but sometimes it stops at Packages.gz. For
me it looks like something corrupts "big" files.

I checked the md5sums of the iso downloads - they are ok. I booted the system
from cds burned on two distinct writers attached to distinct pcs. I get always
the same behavior.

The messages of loading ibmvscsi are looking good:

VIO server is IBM VIO 1.3.0 (AIX). I took the lpar and installed AIX - all
worked fine. I took OpenSuse 10.2 and got the similar problem - the installer
does not accept the cd.

Has anybody of you some idea what is going wrong here?
