Re: X won't start after upgrade

hi, have you tried video=fbcon ?

i tried searching for this machine, on google i
did see there was some breakage at 2.6.9, but i
did not see a follow up (perhaps i did not search
far enough..). i have kernel sources here unpacked
and i see that fbcon.c was last modified in sept 06,
so there may be some fix. if not, don't give up.

but i still run 2.6.8 some on my old machine even with
other stuff etch so far less problems that other
things i have tried, although my old machine is gone
now.

another possiblity maybe is to find some video card.
you have to edit the nvram setting i think to make it
the console. sometimes you see old ati or something
cheap, like $10.
