hdparm hangs in G4 cdrom

Hi,

the command hdparm -c1 or -c3 hangs and never returns on my iBook G4 12"
CD-combidrive. I'm using the ide driver. And it isn't possible to set the
drive on udma2

$ hdparm /dev/cdrom

/dev/cdrom:
 HDIO_GET_MULTCOUNT failed: Invalid argument
 IO_support   =  0 (default 16-bit)
 unmaskirq    =  1 (on)
 using_dma    =  1 (on)
 keepsettings =  0 (off)
 readonly     =  1 (on)
 readahead    = 256 (on)
 HDIO_GETGEO failed: Invalid argument
$ hdparm -i /dev/cdrom

/dev/cdrom:
