Can you send the dmesg output relevant to ADB keyboard/mouse detection?
Also, please try

strings /sbin/fnset | grep Default

and report the output. I did add code to explicitly check for a default
handler device in case the expected handler isn't present on Lombard
Powerbooks. Maybe that needs to be extended to other models as well.
