I don't know. When you're in the installer environment, and you mount hda3 on /target, everything looks cool in /target, right? You see vmlinux, boot, etc, bin, sbin? The installer boots with the same kernel? That would seem to rule out any module lack.
I am not sure. But, I am not that experienced with compiling my own kernel and so on (and have NO experience with cross-compiling Linux). So, I continued looking for A way (not THE way) to boot Debian on my Powerbook and, finally, I succeeded: I burnt a live-cd with the Gentoo PPC-distro, mounted /dev/hda3 and copied that kernel to it.
Now, I can boot Debian from the automatically genertaed yaboot.conf. In time, I will finetune my installation and build my own kernel. Thanks folks for all the support. Wout -geek by nature. linux by choice. apple to bite in ;-)
