Connecting to XServe via ieee1394 problems

My last message was a sucess for mounting a VST 6G Firewire Drive on a G4 using 2.4.20 kernel.

Now trying to attach my XServe onto my G4 via firewire.  I am not having any luck.  I turned off the G4 pluged in the firewire from the xserv (which has been runing from a startup while holding down t) and started the G4 back up and this is what i got.
