/proc/net/wireless empty, airport module loads fine, iwconfig shows general dev-info

hi folks

i think i have a problem with my airport card - or not...

first, is there anything to be found in /proc/net/wireless except of:

rocko:~# cat /proc/net/wireless
Inter-| sta-| Quality | Discarded packets | Missed
face | tus | link level noise | nwid crypt frag retry misc | beacon

if no network link is up?

output of some programs:

rocko:~# iwconfig eth1
eth1 IEEE 802.11-DS Nickname:"HERMES I"
          Mode:Ad-Hoc Frequency:42.9497GHz Tx-Power=15 dBm
          RTS thr:off
          Encryption key:off

rocko:~# cat /proc/net/dev

rocko:~# wavemon

i'm using ben's kernel from about:

rocko:~# uname -v
#1 Mon Dec 30 21:07:05 CET 2002

the diff to the rsynced kernel from mvista.com shows nothing of interest with this issue...
