RE: can not launch xfree86 on debian linux on ibook G3
HI,
Thank you, I followed the procedure of installation of Xfree86 4.2 step
by step , but unformtunitly,
The last step, install the driver, with
dpkg -I *deb
it failed and got following error massage:
Unpacking replacement drm-trunk-module-2.4.20-ben10 ...
Depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.20-ben10/kernel/drivers/char/drm/gamma.o
I noticed that when I did
Apt-get install x-window-system-core x-window-system
The version of x-window-system is 4.1.8 or something like that
Is it the reason? How can I get x-window-system 4.2 ( if it exests)?
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
yingbiao

You need to update your XServer.
See for example:
