RE: apple_modem_detritus_tsunami

hi,
you need to look at /etc/syslog.conf. This is file that tells syslogd where
each message needs to be sent. I have never used a modem under linux. so I
can't point you to the exact line but someone mentioned that pppd logs
through local2. so check syslog.conf and see what local2 is doing. you
need to readup on the man page to find out what the format is, but
basically, it's the last column in the syslog.conf file that dictates where
the output goes. when you find it, all you have to do is replace the file
name w/ /dev/null and you should be free of these annoying messages.
be warned though that there could be other programs using the same logging
facility (local2) and these would get thrown out as well.
