Hallo Ben, Michael and Michel,

My PowerBook G3 model is the first one that was produced after the original
G3 but with a modern motherboard and CPU. It was made until July 1998 and
was available with 3 CPU speeds (233, 250 and 292MHz). During September 1998
the second generation came on the market, where the 292 MHz CPU was changed
to a 300 MHz CPU with a reduced bus speed (83 to 66 MHz). The 292 MHz
machine is the most expensive PowerBook ever that Apple has produced. That's
why I still have it!

You can find the lspci -vv output below for your information.

In the meantime I downloaded abt. 180 MB of software and installed it. I
chose KDE as my desktop environment and must say that I'm really impressed.
With the help of a recent posting in this Mailinglist I could assign the F11
and F12 keys to be the middle and right mouse button (the PowerBook has only
a trackpad and an ADB port). Now I am working on other items like serial
port, infrared, PCMCIA and SCSI. In the end I hope to be able to connect my
PDA to the PowerBook and Debian. This is one reason I installed Debian.
Apple's Jaguar doesn't support serial and SCSI ports any more!

As a Mac user it would also be nice to be able to use the Apple key instead
of the CTRL key.

Kind regards
befu
