The worst I remember: over 30 hours on an old 16 MHz 80386.
The best: certainly under 2 minutes, likely under 1 by now.

If you have xfs, try the others. I doubt XFS is best for this.
Note the options I gave for Reiserfs and ext2.
With recent kernels, a swap file is as fast as a swap partition.
