I have no idea why the maintainer still hasn't taken on any of the
solutions presented in that bug; meanwhile, you can try
http://people.debian.org/~jensen/binary-powerpc/quake2_3.21.cvs20020308-1_powerpc.deb
which contains the sdlquake2 binary.
