Yes, it will work, until you have problems. Placing it in the recommended
order will cause it to be default if MacOS screws something up on you.
You can use the r command in mac-fdisk to put it wherever you want; it's
not physical order that counts just order in the partition map.

Yes, it will not break anything just be wasted space.
