See the following Debian bug report log for the ongoing GPL flash
packaging discussion:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=81708&repeatmerged=yes

Also read the following threads:

Could you include the error/warning messages you see when you try to
compile flash?

I had success building everything except for the "Kflash" piece. To
turn off the Kflash compilation just modify the flash Makefile with the
following simple patch:

--- Makefile.orig       Sun Jan  7 20:17:54 2001
+++ Makefile    Sun Jan  7 20:18:02 2001

 all:

Unfortunately, the GPL Flash Mozilla/Netscape plugin doesn't support
Flash 5, which some sites seem to be using. Another problem (for me
anyway) is that the GPL Flash plugin seems to crash Mozilla. There
seems to be a lot of flash plugin related bugs in Mozilla's Bugzilla.

If you want a prebuilt GPL Flash solution, try reading:

AFAIK, Macromedia hasn't released their "official" Flash plugin for any
other Linux architectures but x86.
